We offer several ways to create a meaningful funeral, from ideas on personalizing the ceremony with
pictures and memorabilia, to enhancing the casket or urn you select with features that reflect the unique qualities of your loves one. The funeral can be as simple or as detailed as the family would like it to be. It may also be open to the public or made private/semi-private according to your wishes. Ludlow Funeral Home offers services to meet the requests of all the families we serve.

We can help you plan a dignified and meaningful service, whether at the time of need or in advance. We are here to answer questions, make suggestions and carry out your wishes. Please remember, all decisions rest with you and your family.

Traditional Services
Usually includes:

  • Preparation of the deceased;
  • Visitation/Gathering - also called a "wake" or "calling hours" - the family receives friends;
  • The casket may be open or closed, or the urn may be present following a cremation
  • Religious service - based on a personal choice and religious beliefs.

Memorial Services
A gathering of relatives and friends without the deceased present. It usually takes place after a burial or cremation.

Cremations

  • Traditional funeral service with cremation following;
  • Cremation followed by a memorial service;
  • Cremation followed by a traditional funeral;
  • Immediate cremation only.

After a cremation or memorial service, a family may also choose to keep permanent possession of the cremated remains.

Options for Final Disposition

Earth Burial
The casket or urn is set in a grave, most often lined with an outer burial container or vault.

Entombment
The casket or urn is laid to rest in an above-ground tomb or mausoleum.

Scattering Garden
A special garden, usually located in a cemetery, for scattering cremated remains.

Whole-Body Donation
The entire body may be donated for medical research. You must make arrangements in advance with a medical school. Be sure to consider other disposition options in case the donated remains are not accepted.

Direct Disposition
The deceased is taken directly to a cemetery or crematory. A memorial service or remembrance ceremony may take place afterward.
