Memorial Services
A gathering of relatives and friends without the deceased present. It usually
takes place after a burial or cremation.
Cremations
Traditional funeral service with cremation following;
Cremation followed by a memorial service;
Cremation followed by a traditional funeral;
Immediate cremation only.
After a cremation or memorial service, a family may also choose to keep
permanent possession of the cremated remains.
Options for Final Disposition
Earth Burial
The casket or urn is set in a grave, most often lined with an outer burial
container or vault.
Entombment
The casket or urn is laid to rest in an above-ground tomb or
mausoleum.
Scattering Garden
A special garden, usually located in a cemetery, for scattering cremated
remains.
Whole-Body Donation
The entire body may be donated for medical research. You must make arrangements
in advance with a medical school. Be sure to consider other disposition options
in case the donated remains are not accepted.
Direct Disposition
The deceased is taken directly to a cemetery or crematory. A memorial service
or remembrance ceremony may take place afterward.
